Ski Test 2019/20: a mountain of prizes for K2

Today we present the main products of the American K2, leader in the freeride market but that makes its way also in track skis, with excellent results also in the racecarver and all-mountain 2019/20 products.

The K2 Speed Charger is the product presented in the racecarver GS segments, skiing is faithful to the philosophy of the brand: it is a product to ski all, without paying too much attention to the slope or to the snow, ready for any situation. The strong points of made in the USA skiing are the versatility of use, the maneuverability and the ease of insertion in the curve. For the whole Test team the ski is stable, both on medium and wide arches, very precise in the conduction and stable in all the arches, always planted on the ground. It is a ski that does not seek absolute performance but everyone likes it, thanks to its incredible versatility and this is why we consider it centered in its category, suitable for a high audience of skiers: not only for excellent skiers who can "get away" from GS-racing but also to evolving skiers who want a tool that allows them to evolve even more. The proposal for the most tight curves is called K2 Turbo Charger and it is also a versatile ski and a very pleasant ski for its maneuverability. The excellent grip of the giant is confirmed and falls perfectly into tight turns. All the testers note that the K2 Turbo Charger is a very light ski and how this lightness makes the ski easy to handle in narrow and medium speed bows not supported. The ski is to be used gently, without sudden changes and remains stable not exceeding the speed or enlarging the curve radius. The ideal terrain is only the narrow and medium curves, where it is promoted with the award "Scelto degli Tester" 2019/20. It is promoted as a correspondence to the declared profile and is proposed for skiers of level 5-6, without therefore any competitive ambitions. An in-ground proposal, and the daily bread of K2, is the iKonic 80ti, a ski with a center wider than the others that is positioned in the all-mountain category. The ski gets a very good evaluation from our testers, who award it as the best ski chosen by the testers in the all-mount track category. It has immediately seduced our testers a very manageable and intuitive ski, versatile for every curve. A very good and manageable ski especially on soft and excellent snow in conduction. The tool is very fun and you can make incredible folds while still being stable. The iKonic 80ti has proved to be an excellent All mountain Piste ski, recommended for intermediate and advanced skiers, an enjoyable ski can be skiing with ease or carving up medium slopes with soft or winter snow. The feminine declination for the American allround, the K2 Anthem 72 Ti is aimed at a medium-high level female audience, that is level 5 skiers and even slightly higher. Skiing, tested by our girls in the "long" measure 167cm and not in the shorter one, it has really many strengths, it is in fact very simple in its setting but stable, manageable and adapts to all types of curves. The speed control is excellent, despite having some too much hooking inlet curve at low speed, which compromises the manageability of the ski. The stability and grip of the structure are practically similar to those of the equivalent all-rounders of the same unisex level, therefore there is no structural or sealing deficit for this model, indeed it is demonstrated excellent in the management of medium-wide curves and gets really high marks in all the parts of the board, making it one of the best women's skis for the season in 2019/20, winning the coveted "Choice by testers" award for edge hold and wide curve management. In the freeski sector K2 proposes the collection series, with the Mindbender 99 Ti in the all-mountain freeride field and the Mindbender 108 Ti for the purest freeride. Both have a Titanal reinforcement and the "Y-Beam" design that allows excellent flexibility longitudinal without granting excessive torsional bending. The Mindbender 99 Ti is one of the favorite skis of our Allmountain testers, receiving the "Chosen by Testers" award thanks to stability and performance: it remains precise and stable throughout the curve on the track, with winter snow you can drive with ease, even in tight curves, excellent in driving both on and off the track. In short, it is an all-mountain all-round ski. The rocker spatula that helps floatation also helps in toruing. The Mindbender 108 Ti is the elder brother of the 99 Ti and reflects all its features, enhancing them in big-mountain. It is a ski of a certain substance, dedicated to open-field descents at full throttle, winning the Choice Chosen by Testers as the best freeride proposal for the next season. It's a fun ski in its purest form, which makes you feel immediately at ease, very manageable but at the same time stable and precise, even though it takes some time to understand it. "It is always easy and stable, with a homogeneous behavior. In off-piste it floats very well even at low speed, offering itself as the ideal companion for powder days or freeride events.
