Ski-test 2021/22: the best giant skis

What are the best giant skis? The most responsive and the most comfortable? Here are our ski medals chosen by the Testers, as always with some confirmations and some news!

It is perhaps the most awaited page by our readers, the article that awards the medals in the "queen" category that of GS racecarver. The gold medal is awarded, once again, to the Rossignol Hero Master, tested in both the M15 and M17 versions. times updated and refined but never upset, the 2021 season had to be that of the debut of the new model: different lengths, different sidecuts and different structure. We tested it, in fact, in two sizes: M15 (tested this year in Cervinia) and M17 (tested in 2021 at the Stelvio), the first with a radius of 15 and a length of 169 cm and the second with a length of 173 and a radius of 17 meters. The first to finally test a ski that can be suitable for a very wide audience, the second with the aim of having a softened GS ski, without size constraints. The new Hero Master is fully centered: it gets 100% consensus in the voice correspondence to the profile declared by the house: it is a stable and intuitive ski, easy despite the high level, with a nice balanced elastic response, and with an excellent entry curve. Awarded with the medal of choice by the testers is also the Völkl Racetiger GS, which has proved to be a very easy, intuitive, easy, light, surprising ski.The main aspect of the ski is the lightness of the structure that does not turn into poor grip. but it helps the setting of the guided skiing. Its strengths are the extreme simplicity in the management of the curve, especially the medium arch: you start the curve easily and without any effort, you start cutting and facilitates the skiing in conduction also for newbies of modern technique or for skiers who want to improve themselves. The Blizzard Firebird WRC WC Piston, on the other hand, is awarded for the comfort that the new version of the Austrian proposal manages to offer. It combines an apparently light structure with a very homogeneous and soft deformation, the structure remains very stable, but at the same time it is an easy ski The ski never tires even after prolonged use, has an excellent edge grip and always remains attached to the ground. A good versatility emerges despite being a purely GS model. Finally we find the Dynastar Speed course Master GS Konect, a close relative of the "normal" Master but with a lighter plate, which makes it more manageable and simple than the superior model. The ski excels in more situations and thanks to the excellent structure and the light plate deforms evenly and makes the skier feel glued to the ground, without ever losing stability. The great qualities of the new structure make Dynastar win the medal among the best skis of next season for the "GS racecarver" category, excelling in medium curves and in conduction. We remind you all that the skis "Chosen by the testers" are determined with the arithmetic averages of the individual items in our test sheet, and only the Gold medal is also influenced by the opinions and ratings of our skiers.
