Ski-test 2021/22: the Atomic range

The range of the Austrian house is complete and well structured, with an eye to the track and performance, but which for years has also been carving out an excellent role in freeskiing. Let's find out together the best proposals for 2022!

In the GS racecarver field the Atomic technicians propose a new structure with a new anti-vibration system (already used in official races) for the high range with the new Redster G9 R Revo S. The ski arouses some mixed reactions in our testers, but all they agree on the fundamental aspects: the new Atomic satisfies the skier in conduction and in the management of tight curves, situations in which he receives the highest marks. The ski appears, in fact, much more stable than the previous version and the vibrations are almost canceled, even in tight turns. We recommend the product to skiers who want support in the queues to have a help in the exit of the curve and a great projection in the following one. In the same category, but a step below, we find the Atomic Redster G9i Revo S. It is a ski that immediately stands out for the lightness of its structure, as soon as you put it on your feet. It offers good stability in short and medium arches and is very easy to ski in conduction, especially for those who are approaching long skis. Our test team likes it above all thanks to its handling and the harmony of the curve management, it is not a ski to ski aggressive but a product to use all day. The new Atomic Redster X9RS Revo S is instead the product presented in the Allround performance category: it is an excellent ski, modern and versatile. It is an elastic ski, it responds very well at the end of the curve and has an excellent entrance, but above all it has fun in dynamic curves. The geometry of the new X9 allows it to adapt very well to narrow and medium-wide curves, thanks to the reactivity of the structure, which it always offers a good impulse but above all it gives edge grip and conduction at the highest levels, ideal for dynamic, modern and rhythmic skiing. In the allround tourism field we find the Redster X7 WB: a precise, simple product with a good edge grip, which is well positioned in the indicated segment, placing itself among the most performing proposals. easy skiing, thanks also to the wide tip which helps the continuation of the curve (even if it makes entry a bit complicated), and fully centers the profile thanks not only to the ease of use but also to the general comfort of management. Our Test Team then tested the Maverick 95Ti for the all-mountain freeride category under 100mm wide under the foot and the Bent Chetler 100 in pure freeride field. The Maverick has an important structure and has an excellent behavior of the fins at the tip, offering good floatation. It is a very versatile ski, suitable for all types of skiers and all types of snow but suffers and loses precision at high speeds and during the wide curves it is a bit tiring and heavy, sinking in fresh powder snow at low speeds. The Bent Chetler 100 appeared to our testers as versatile and responsive, especially narrow arches. A manageable ski with particular geometries, excellent in the aerial phase and landing from small and medium cliffs. It is ideal for both female and male users of any technical level, even beginners in freeride. Recommended for skiers of any weight, even if they are not trained in terms of muscle, occasional skiers who, with medium-level luggage on the piste, want to try their hand at off-piste, perhaps starting from the edge of the piste.
