In the GS racecarver field we find the Blizzard Firebird WRC WC, launched in 2020, is also confirmed for next season: the Austrian product has confirmed the goodness of the Firebird project and has amazed more than one testator for the simplicity with which the Blizzard technicians have succeeded to combine an apparently light structure with a very homogeneous and soft deformation combined with granite stability in every situation. The Austrian ski is confirmed as a top ski for next season, conquering the coveted recognition of the skis "Chosen by the Testers", excelling in comfort for the giant racecarver category, thus underlining the vocation of grand touring rather than the racing one of the product. The ski, in fact, never tires even after prolonged use, has an excellent edge grip and always remains attached to the ground. A good versatility emerges, says Stefano Belingheri at the end of the test, despite being a purely GS model.
Together with the WRC we find the Firebird HRC WC-Piston which is confirmed in the range of the Austrian house thanks to the versatility it manages to offer in the intermediate radii, between slalom and giant. Our testers have all appreciated the ductility and stability, it is a product that remains glued to the ground and has a good edge grip, especially at the beginning of the curve, with a good impulse. It has a solid structure, which offers good support in all conditions. The terrain of choice are the medium curves, where you can ski at free rein and take advantage of the sidecut and the conduction. The tip is very soft and if it facilitates the entry into the curve it does not help in precision, being influenced too much by the roughness of the terrain and making the ski unstable.
Immediately below the Firebird line Blizzard presents the Thunderbird line, in the allround performance field, that is those skis that fill that gap between the racecarver and the classic allround. The first product that we present is the new Thunderbird R18 Ltd 2021/22, which we have tested on the snow of the Cervinia glacier at the beginning of July 2021, on a very varied terrain: hard ground but with snowfall of a few centimeters on the surface, and the whole Test Team liked it.Our skiers had a lot of fun with the Thunderbird on their feet , which has been confirmed as a fully centered ski, which confirms its compliance with the profile practically 100% and is rewarded for the combination of stability (100% positive votes) and handling in medium-wide curves and for these reasons it obtains the recognition of " Chosen by the Testers "for next season in the" allround performance "category. It is recommended for a public who knows how to ski perfectly in conduction, level 6, who wants to ski re all day regardless of the terrain, as both on the hard and on the ruined snow he manages to express himself at his best.Immediately a step below we find, always in the same category, the Blizzard Thunderbird 15, which is confirmed as effective and performing, it is very easy to use and gives good comfort to skiing, although it has some flaws in fast edge changes.
In the freeski field we tested three models, the Brahma 88, designed as an all-mountain freeride, the Bonafide 97, designed for more frequent powder outings and the Rustler 10 for pure freeride. In the all-mountain freeride field we appreciate the Blizzard Bonafide 97, thanks to general stability of the structure that makes it win the award of "Chosen by the Testers" in the category for the year 2022. The whole Test Team liked the construction, which makes the ski reactive to impulses, agile on any snowpack even if tiring from the point of physical sight. The ski is in fact structured, it is good both in powder fast and in conduction, excellent performance in powder and in the end simple for those who are physically trained. On the track it gets along with difficulty and the reactivity is not flawless and due to the structure it is not recommended for ski touring / ski touring combined with skins. The Blizzard Bonafide 97 is instead an excellent ski for trained skiers with a high technical background who prefer Big Mountain and Backcountry, so as to exploit it at full "Gas" in descents at high speeds.
In the pure freeride field Blizzard presents itself to the Neveitalia tests dedicated to freeride skis with the Rustler 10 model. The ski, like the rest of the range, is well structured and performing, precise and stable in every curve at all speeds. It prefers steep slopes, is excellent in deformation and in the release phase and has a very successful structure with a soft enough tip and a raised tail of medium hardness. It is a product that excels in stability and speed, which can be also used for short ascents and excellent for large curves, the spatula fits well into curves.
