There’s no contest: once again, the winner of the Gold Medal is the Rossignol Hero Maser LT M17 R22! The years go by and the graphics change, but the Rossignol Hero Master never disappoints. It is appreciated because it is a product that gives skiers confidence and security, performs well at high speeds and in medium-to-long turns, and requires physical effort, but not an excessively high level considering its excellent edge grip. With its 17-metre radius, it performs at its best in terms of versatility: a perfect ski for doing everything and making full use of its construction and responsiveness.
The absolute best in terms of stability, and winner of the silver medal as chosen by the testers, is instead the Atomic Redster G9 RS Revoshock. It is stable and well-centred, attacks the snow and makes its presence felt throughout the turn, creating the sensation that you never reach the limit of its grip.
The best model of next season in its preferred turn, wide turns, is instead the new Fischer RC4 Noize LT Pro M-Plate. It is a fun, stable and well-balanced ski in all turn shapes, with excellent ease of turn initiation.
We’ll end with a disclaimer: it’s a game!It all started as a game: assigning a medal to the best ski in each category through a brief survey among the testers on the last day of the test. Then we diversified the awards: the “Gold Medal” for the highest-performing product and the “Silver Medal” for skis that excel in one or more fields on the score sheet. At this point, we have made the award mathematical: the medal is assigned based on the average scores from the sheets—or, to put it in more modern terms, it is the Neveitalia algorithm that assigns the awards.
And we always like to repeat it: the best ski is the one that lets you ski comfortably and therefore ski better!
