The World Cup has just got underway with the Soelden opener, the craving for snow is growing every day and it's time to go shopping: here are the best GS racecarver skis for next season!
For years now, we have been playing a little game: we cross-reference the data from all our test sheets to try to answer the question everyone asks us: which is the best ski?
The results from our testers, made up of national instructors, coaches, ski instructors, retailers and consumers, were clear: this year once again, the Gold Medal for the ski chosen by the testers goes to the Rossignol Hero Maser LT M17 R22!
In its new graphic design, the Rossignol Hero Master remains true to form. It is appreciated because it is a product that gives the skier confidence and security, performs well at high speeds and in medium-to-wide turns, and requires physical effort, although not excessively so given its excellent edge hold.
What stands out is not only how quickly the turn can be managed, but also the ease of turn initiation, combined with great stability throughout the turn.
Alongside the Rossignol Master comes its cousin, the Dynastar Speed Course Master GS R22, also tested in the “short” size of 173cm with a 17m radius. It proved excellent for wide turns: responsive, stable, enjoyable and highly energetic.
On the podium of the award winners we find another “master”: the Völkl Racetiger GS Master, tested in the 173cm size. It is a distinctly versatile ski that handles medium turns well, while also being perfectly at home in tight and wide turns. The Test Team liked its quickness at turn initiation, edge grip and stability. It is very similar to a GS ski, delivering strong sensations for those who want to ski fast.
Rounding out the best skis for the 2024/25 season is the Salomon S/Race GS PRO, recognised for its edge grip. The French ski is great fun and stable, with an excellent shovel that delivers quick and, above all, precise turn initiation. It is very well suited to the category, although aimed at advanced skiers, from level L6 upwards, provided they are familiar with modern technique and enjoy medium-to-wide turns.
