Fabio Iacchini

Fabio is an experienced Mountain Guide with years of ski mountaineering competitions and expeditions around the world behind him; his palmarès includes numerous eight-thousanders. He is also a guide instructor and takes part in training courses for future mountain guides. In June 1993 he attempted the unclimbed West Face of Makalu, and in 1995 he was in Pakistan at Lila Peak and in Patagonia, where he climbed Fitz Roy via the Californian Route in a single day. In 1997 he reached the summit of Aconcagua in eight hours from Base Camp. In 1998 he placed 14th overall at the Sky Runner World Championships in Cervinia. In 2001 he set off from Camp One on Ama Dablam, reaching the summit in seven hours and thirty minutes. In June 2001 he descended the East Face of the Matterhorn on skis. After taking third place at the 2004 Italian Ski Mountaineering Championships, in 2005 he won the Italian Overall Pairs Championship in the free technique. In 2005 he played a leading role in the expedition to Shisha Pagma, reaching the summit from Camp Two (6,900 m) and skiing down from an altitude of 7,300 metres. In autumn 2007 he took part in the expedition to Annapurna (8,091 m). On July 12, 2007, in Pakistan with an entirely Italian expedition, he reached the summit of Broad Peak (8,047 m).
