The Buyer's Guide 2020/21 is coming

There are just a few days left for the publication of the new edition of our Buyer's Guide for the 2020/21 season. Despite the many adversities and organizational difficulties we are happy to be able to present you a small preview with some great news.

Despite the season inextricably linked to the Covid emergency, we managed to test 5 categories of skis, twelve different brands in three locations. We concentrated on giant and slalom racecarver, on allround performance, allround tourism and skis for skiers in evolution. We started from Bardonecchia where, guests of Free To Ski, we tested the main models of Blossom, Elan and K2. We continued on to Pila, which hosted us for two days to test the mid-range models (all-round and level 4 skis) in optimal conditions and in real use. Covid-19 and the consequent lockdown prevented us from being in Pampeago for the usual Pool Sci Italia tests, but as soon as it was possible, thanks to the organization of Oliver Ski and the hospitality of the Hotel Pirovano, we tested on the glacier the giant, slalom and allround performance racecarver models, albeit with a smaller team. In all, we have tested more than 90% of next year's on-piste skis, with our usual data sheets, hot comments from testers and beautiful photos of Enrico “Bigno” Pozzi. There are three novelties this year. First, the most important: consumers are back! Our tests were born ten years ago as consumers for consumers, albeit guided by masters and instructors. Over the years we have increasingly increased the number of instructors, coaches and masters in the Test Team, increasing the level and quality of our tests, while always leaving a voice dedicated to end users. For the 2020/21 tests we have thought about it and rethought, deciding to reverse the composition of the Test Team for the allround categories, we had these models tested by the real end users of the category: the big voice of the tests is made up of consumer opinions, guided by some instructors and coaches present at the test. All this was possible thanks to the careful selection of Valerio Malfatto who caught some excellent students of his Jam Session and brought them to our tests. The composition of the Test Team for the highest and highest performing models has instead remained unchanged, with a good composition of professionals in the sector. The second novelty, also given by the ongoing emergency, was to decide not to re-test some skis that have been confirmed for structure and sidecuts from the houses. The few days of tests available we had to dedicate to the real news and the leading products of each brand: some tests referring to skis identical to those of last year, will then be re-proposed in full and you will find them online. We believe that this method of testing can be also used in the future: it will allow us to focus more and even better on new models to further raise the degree of accuracy of the single test. The latest news is the absence of the printed guide: in 2020/21 there will in fact be very few opportunities to meet in person and to deliver it to you. After four years of the now iconic square and colorful guide, we are therefore taking a break and for this year the tests will be available exclusively online. But now that's enough talk, enjoy our Trailer and in a few days we will publish the best giant skis with our coveted medals!
