Inaugurated the first 2 kilometers of Garda by Bike

Lake Garda is certainly one of the most popular tourist destinations in Italy, both by Italians and by many foreigners who visit the lake and the neighboring towns each year. The possibilities for free time are certainly not lacking: there is the possibility of cycling, but there are also events for those who love theater, music, culture, good food and good wine as well as the beauties natural to admire.

The novelty of this year was the inauguration - last 14 July - of the first 2 kilometers of the Garda cycle path. GARDA BY BIKE will be a 190 km cycle route in the circumnavigation of Lake Garda, located at the crossroads between the two routes Eurovelo EV7 "Central Europe Itinerary" and Eurovelo EV8 "Mediterranean Itinerary", and therefore directly connected to the European cycle network . It will also be connected to the Ciclovia del Sole and the Ciclovia Vento (the cycling route of the Po). Once finished, the cycle path will offer a long-distance network at a national scale of over one thousand kilometers long. The completion is expected by 2030, and has already been defined as the most spectacular track in Europe. In addition to giving tourists a breathtaking view, the new cycle-pedestrian track is also beautiful to see: the flooring was made of wood-like material, but resistant to the elements, and along the whole stretch runs a very thin protective barrier of steel which has less visual impact on the landscape. The steel beams that support it are anchored directly to the overhanging rocks, the parapet or the water. An incredible job was done to hook the structure to the mountain, as can be seen from the spectacular photographs already available on the web. Since opening, a real boom of requests has been recorded, certified by the numbers registered by the people at the southern entrance of the Naiadi gallery, where the webcam records the images published in real time on the Giornale di Brescia website: ten days after the opening occurred precisely on Saturday 14, 15.515 passages had already been registered, between runners and cyclists. In Limone del Garda, close to the multi-storey car park of the lakefront Marconi, an e-bike rental point has been set up. Here you can rent bicycles to use exclusively to travel the new cycle path. Rates: 20 euros half day, 30 full day. A more demanding route includes the departure from the town of Toscolano Maderno (BS). Riding their bikes, travelers must head for Gargnano, where they will cross Riva del Garda (TN) and Limone (BS). From here begins the descent towards Torbole, a small town included in the province of Verona. Then continue along the shores of Lake Garda until you reach Malcesine (VR), from where you can ferry bikes on the opposite bank of the lake. If you have a weekend, we recommend a visit to the beautiful Verona: considering that the lake is a stone's throw away, why not enjoy a day in the beautiful city of Verona? Do not miss the historic center, with its majestic Arena, the romantic balcony of Juliet and the crowded Piazza delle Erbe. But also Castelvecchio, which houses an interesting museum, with works of medieval, renaissance and modern art; and the Church of San Zeno Maggiore (in the delightful neighborhood of the same name), which houses the Magnifica Pala di S. Zeno, the work of Mantegna. But what you can not lose if you happen to be in Verona in the summer, is to attend an opera representation in the magnificent setting of the Arena. The 96th edition of the historic Opera Festival opened on 22 June with a new production of Carmen by Georges Bizet, signed by the famous Argentine director Hugo de Ana, and will continue until 1 September 2018. Carmen's new production intends to offer a new interpretation of the work; in fact, De Ana transposes her Carmen a century later compared to the booklet, in the thirties of the twentieth century, significant historical period to emphasize the incessant pursuit of the protagonist towards his independence and freedom, which will lead her to face male dominance and death until her death. a society hostile to its gypsy being therefore different. A victim of femicide, as was emphasized during the first performance of the Arena with the deposition in place 32 of the audience of 32 red roses in memory of the victim of femicide from the beginning of the year. Since then, the number has risen to 44. Replicas: 9, 12, 22, 25, 28, 31 August at 8.45 pm. © Photo Ennevi / Arena di Verona Foundation. As usual, the following evening, Saturday 23 June, was the turn of the symbolic work of the summer season: Aida by Giuseppe Verdi, which will be proposed for 16 dates, until the end of the Festival on 1 September, in the imposing mass scene created in 2002 by the genius of Franco Zeffirelli. For 6 events, from Saturday 7 July to 18 August, the fourth monumental title of this summer season, Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi, is re-proposed in the setting that has successfully inaugurated the 2017 Opera Festival, directed by Arnaud Bernard, scenes by Alessandro Camera and lights by Paolo Mazzon. And in the year that commemorates the 150th anniversary of the death of Gioachino Rossini, the Barber of Seville proposed from Saturday 4 August in a successful setting that, for 5 evenings until August 30th, transforms the amphitheater into the fabulous garden of wonders created in 2007 again from Hugo de Ana, with the funny choreography of Leda Lojodice. Replicas: 8, 17, 24, 30 August at 8.45 pm Finally, Verdi Opera Night will crown the 96th edition of the Festival on Sunday 26th August at 9.30pm. The magical evening-event dedicated to the swan of Busseto pays homage to the great opera with a real "parade of stars", which will bring on stage among suggestive scenographic settings and sought after costumes the most significant acts of the famous Verdi trilogy - Rigoletto, Il Trovatore and La Traviata - introduced by the Symphony of La Forza del destino interpreted by the dancers of the Festival on the choreographic creation of Gheorghe Iancu, for a real "celebration of the Opera". Prices from 18 to 204 euros. https://www.arena.it For a pre-show aperitif we recommend the Osteria del Bugiardo, where you can find the excellent wines produced by the Buglioni cellars. About ten years ago, Alfredo Buglioni, a well-known entrepreneur in the textile sector, owner of clothing stores in various areas of Italy, bought a campaign in Valpolicella and the seduction of the vineyard took over. Once the new cellar was built, it was decided to take another step: to open a traditional restaurant in the center of Verona to promote the culture of wine. An immediate success, especially among the young people, who have crowded the small restaurant. The name, Osteria del Bugiardo, comes from the label of Valpolicella Ripasso of the company, but at the counter are also mixed with many other wines. The Goto is accompanied by excellent canapes, cured meats, cheeses, a first course, or polenta: with lard, green cheese, soppressa or herring. Address: Corso Porta Borsari 17 / A, Verona. http://www.buglioni.it/ Finally, an address to stay in Verona and feel a bit 'at home: the B & B Liberty. A splendid house of 1930, completely renovated by the delightful owners, Nicoletta and Sergio. That their guests call them by name, not with the room number. That their guests treat them as if they were family friends and not customers. That their guests prepare an abundant breakfast, with tea and coffee and sweets at will. Once you have stayed here, you will want to come back every time you come back to Verona! Address: Via Volturno 11, Verona. http://www.libertybb.it/
