A wheelchair at the Antonio Curò refuge thanks to the "Enjoy mountain for all" project

On Saturday 21 May 2022, Mauro Bernardi and the group of friends and volunteers from Enjoyski Sport ODV delivered a wheelchair to the managers of the Antonio Curò refuge, thus giving continuity to the Enjoy mountain for everyone project.

The wheelchair was handed over by a delegation from the association headed by Mauro Bernardi, ski instructor for the disabled and secretary and treasurer of the voluntary organization. Mauro, accompanied by his wife Claudia and his son Pietro and helped by his friends Mauro and Silvia, Patrizio and Giusy, Francesco, Matteo, Christian and Chiara, and by the youngest of the group Erika, Alice, Diego and Lia, walked the path, direction Curò, from Valbondione in 3 hours and 10 minutes aboard a handbike (a special bicycle for disabled people) pedaling with his arms. The effort was evident, but the noble purpose made him overcome all the difficulties, and with joy and not a little emotion, the group reached the refuge at 12.40. The MOUNTAIN FOR ALL ENJOY project, conceived in 2016 by a group of disabled athletes from the Enjoyski association, made it possible to make the mountain a little more accessible to people with motor disabilities. In recent years, the collaboration with various ski resorts in Lombardy and Trentino has allowed various disabled people to take advantage of the technical equipment including dual skis, monoski and stabilizers necessary for the practice of alpine skiing. Monte Pora, Presolana, Spiazzi di Gromo, Foppolo, Aprica, Chiesa Valmalenco, Valgerola, Pinzolo and Madonna di Campiglio, these are the ski resorts that have decided to share the project. Other ski resorts in Lombardy and Trentino have asked to join this project for the next winter season. The ambitious and innovative project is divided into several phases, and aims to allow as many disabled people as possible to experience the mountains in every season and with any type of motor disability. In a first phase, our "consultants" with disabilities in wheelchairs (both manual and electronic), carry out an inspection to monitor the presence of dedicated parking lots, hotel and restaurant accommodation, usability of the toilets and additional services dedicated to them (discounts and Secondly, where the favorable conditions described above are not present, we recommend the necessary interventions for accessibility and usability of the services (many times, very small precautions are enough) Subsequently, for that place, ski resort, mountain refuge and local receptive, we provide the equipment free of charge (based on its availability scheduled in advance) Jolette, wheelchairs, monoski, dulaski, stabilizers, etc ... to allow disabled people who will spend time in that place, to have what they they need to fully enjoy their stay. The technical equipment, fundamental to the realization of the project, was purchased thanks to the precious support of our extraordinary sponsors and thanks to the contributions that the students of the schools where we carry out the sport and disability project donate to the association. The motto of the association "EVERYONE CAN REACH THE HIGHEST PEAKS" has been further realized thanks to the constant and incessant help of the precious volunteers and we can cry out loud, as Mauro reiterates, that ALONE GOES FAST BUT TOGETHER YOU GO FAR AWAY .
