Subsidies for small ski areas in South Tyrol that cannot afford investments.

The small ski areas of South Tyrol will have financial support. On the proposal of the Provincial Councilor Philipp Achammer, on 8 March the Provincial Government approved new criteria for the development of ski resorts. The guidelines will be valid for now until 2023.
"With the approval of the new criteria, we are giving above all the managers of small ski areas not competing internationally and small ski lifts in the village, the possibility of requesting a provincial contribution for a series of investments - explains the Councilor provincial Achammer - For this reason we have provided for the coverage of operating costs for the lifts in the country. We have also included in the criteria a safeguard clause which establishes, in the event of insufficient funds made available, the priority of facilitation of the ski lifts in the town to cover operating costs ".
The new guidelines distinguish between local ski resorts, which are not in a situation of international competition, and local ski resorts that operate in a situation of international competition. For local ski resorts operating in a situation of international competition, it will no longer be possible to finance the revolving fund for the construction of reservoirs and for the construction of covered parking lots.
The subsidies will cover artificial snowmaking systems, snow groomers and related accessories, safety nets, lighting systems, conveyor belts and water basins. Investments for facilities belonging to large ski areas, with a total hourly capacity exceeding 50,000 people, are not eligible. The minimum eligible expenditure is 15,000 euros.
Applications must be submitted by June 30 of each year for all types of investments, with the exception of water basins for which applications must be submitted by April 30.
