Sports Minister Werner Kogler would like to restart individual sports including ski touring.

Last Wednesday, Austria announced that it would like to resume sports that involve social distances from 1 May.
"Individual sports where there is no immediate contact will take priority over team sports where contact is generally unavoidable," Deputy Chancellor and Minister of Sports Werner Kogler said at a press conference.
He also made it known that dangerous outdoor sports such as ski touring, which is often conducted away from ski resorts, would be allowed, but urged those who practice it to stick to easy routes to avoid accidents.
Austria has been in a state of blockade for a month and some of its ski resorts have been identified as outbreaks. Last month, she was accused of spreading infections in Europe and beyond, but the country itself reported relatively few infections and deaths compared to other countries.
Some stations like Hintertux and Stubai are usually open in the months of May and June. Hintertux had said he would reopen as soon as it was safe to do so.
Several countries have eased the closings in recent weeks by allowing a small number of ski areas in the Czech Republic and Norway to reopen for a few weeks at the end of the season. Other centers have also remained open in Iceland, Japan and Sweden.
However, everyone is stressing that rigorous measures are in place to limit the danger of the spread of Covid-19 and that the slopes are only open to socially distant and masked local skiers.
