Of the 50 athletes enrolled in the tour earlier in the season less than half are still in the race. Only the best will take part in the games in what the collective is considered the Eden freeride, a pristine environment, wild and inaccessible: the 'Alaska.

In race will in fact only the world elite of freeride, or the first 12 skiers and the best skiers 6, respectively, and the first 6 men and 4 women snowboarder in the standings after the stop in Fieberbrunn in the Austrian Tyrol, last March 8.

It is the third year that the Tour returns to Heines, a small village on the Alaskan coast inhabited by fishermen who has only about 1,800 residents. A quiet corner of wild and scenic America that has little in common with the other locations where the world of the Freeride World Tour stages.
The competition area designated is accessible only by helicopter and is the façade simply called "The Venue": 600 meters of vertical jump with steep slopes, ridges in pure "Alaska" style and monstrous cliff.
The competition will take place in a time window of between 18 and 25 March, deliberately broad to allow athletes and organizers to juggle in the extreme climate and definitely the remote location variable.
