The first winds of crisis since last summer when they arrive already, Promotour had established a partial closure of some anticipated and lifts to the lack of tourists in some stations.
Unfortunately things, instead of improving, they seem to get worse and this year the situation is even more worrying: the inclement weather and summer arrives, combined with a lack of resources available to result in a schedule of limited openings of the plants planned in advance for the entire summer season, with a consequent reduction in seasonal employment and turnover are reduced for locals who work on the mountain tourism.
The region size Promotour contributions and must comply with minimal openings of the plants in the towns of Alto Friuli Pordenone and trying to aim at saving. Only in Tarvisio the cable Lussari work every day throughout the summer, including September because, according to positive numbers last season, 71,500 steps for a collection of more than 700 thousand Euros, it hopes to close in the black.
The situation is different in the other pole, where it skips the opening day of the plants, as in Sella Nevea in Ravascletto, Forni di Sopra and Piancavallo. The gondola will ensure continuous service in the month of August in the days between 3 and 25, while in the remaining periods will be open only on weekends. Similar situation in Sella Nevea where the opening is scheduled for 20, 21, 27 and 28 July, in Forni di Sopra collateralised transport for all Saturdays and Sundays in July while in Piancavallo 29 and 30 June and on weekends of July.
Promotour tip with these openings in fits and starts at a saving of between 100 and 150 thousand Euros reducing energy costs and those relating to staff.
It is a difficult choice and intended to create discontent, especially among those who bind its business in the operation of cable cars: seasonal workers in the first instance and then the refuge managers and economic activities, especially those placed on top of Zoncolan Saddle Prevala, where tourists arrive especially with the lifts. The danger is that such drastic decisions lead to real savings of a few thousand euro, instead of ending up on their knees for a large part of the mountain economy.
On a positive note, however, exist: decrease if the open days ticket prices remain unchanged, with facilities provided for families, kids (under 8 years old are free) and seniors.
