The "First steps on skis" project promoted and organized by the Department of Education and Family Policies of the Municipality of Trieste, in collaboration with the Sci Club 70, will also be active for this school year.

The first appointment is scheduled for Saturday 8 October at the federal winter sports training center "NEVESOLE" in Aurisina. On this first day the children of the last year of the municipal preschools will meet the teachers of the local ski school and the official mascot, the Biancolatte bear. The initial meeting will serve to form the various groups and relative schedules.
For Councilor Nicole Matteoni, this is an initiative that the Municipality of Trieste has been carrying out for years, always finding wide support from families and the collaboration of school managers. One hundred children of the last year of 30 municipal preschools will have the unique opportunity to get closer to the world of winter sports, thanks to the experience and availability of the Ski Club 70 which will provide the free supply of equipment and materials for all the children who will try their hand, for the first time, on skis along the artificial slope of the Karst lift. FISI membership will be borne by families and will include third party insurance which, according to Legislative Decree 40/2021 (art.30), is mandatory in order to ski. This year we decided to make the project even more inclusive, giving even the most fragile subjects the opportunity to get closer to sport. In this case to the disciplines of skiing thanks to the total availability of the Ski Club 70.
There will be eight autumn appointments on skis, between October and November, on a weekly basis and always on Saturday. The first group of 50 children (from 15 schools) will be present in Aurisina, in addition to the 9 also on 15, 22 and 29. The second group (always 50, coming from other 15 schools) will reach the NEVESOLE facility on four Saturdays November (5, 12, 19 and 26).
