Elan's new Ripstick Team is born

A new team, a new ski line, the Ripsticks. Here's who the members of the new Elan team are.

Cala Cimenti, Shanty Cipolli, Simon Hitthaler and Klaus Gruber. These are the names of the athletes of the new Elan team to express themselves to the fullest in uncompromising performance thanks to the new Ripstick ski line, lightweight skis that offer buoyancy and stability on unprepared terrain and guarantee maximum performance even on alpine tours. The new Ripstick Italia team represents the confirmation of the company's commitment to pursuing high-level sports goals. A significant choice, which makes Elan's determination to respect the expectations of sportspeople even more concrete. The new Ripstick collection is at the height of this challenge: an excellent All Mountain freeride ski, versatile, well-structured and performing on all snow, offering maximum speed and steepness, guaranteeing smooth skiing in all conditions. The brand has always been at the side of freeride enthusiasts and athletes because it is aware that thanks to the continuous dialogue with them many of the innovations present in the products are born. Team Ripstick Italia Elan Cala Cimenti 44 years, practice sport at a competitive level since ever: first road cycling, then Mountain Bike, to then pass to mountain and trail running. He began skiing at the age of five, practicing classic and competitive ski mountaineering, freeriding, snowboarding and telemark. He began very young to climb the mountains of his home: Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa and Gran Paradiso and then, outside Europe, the Ojos del Salado, in Chile (6,891 m), the Toubkal, in Morocco (4,165 m ,) Kilimanjaro and some mountains above 6,000 meters in Nepal. It reaches its first 8,000, Cho Oyu, on the border between China and Nepal, in 2005. In 2011 it reaches the summit of Manaslu, 8,163 m, in the Himalayan range, which descends, not integrally, on skis. He climbs Ama Dablam, in Nepal, alone. In 2015, after climbing the Korzhenevskaya Peak, 7,105 m, the Lenin Peak 7,134 m and the Khan Tengri Peak 7,010m and the Pobeda 7,439 m, it reaches the top of Communism Peak, 7495 m, in Tajikistan, and carries out the full descent with the skiing achieving the Snowleopard award. In 2016, it climbs Peak Lenin and descends on skis from the north wall. In 2017 it reaches the top of Dhaulagiri (8,156 m), partially slipping away. 2018 is busy on Laila peak, 6,096 m, in Pakistan, where it makes the second ski descent. In July of 2019 it climbs to the top of the Nanga Parbat (8,126 m, Karakorum, Pakistan) from the Diamir slope and descends with skis from just below the summit. Make the first ascent of Gasherbrum VII (6,955 m) to make the first full descent on skis. He trains by participating in ski mountaineering competitions and practice steep skiing. Shanti Cipolli It was founded in 1992 in Valle d’Aosta: it has always loved sliding on the snow with any tool. He began to devote himself to skiing as a child. Former skicross national athlete, he won several junior national titles. Three years ago he took part in his first freeride competition and immediately understood that he had found his way, which became his main passion, because, as he says, he offered him a feeling of unparalleled freedom. It is several times in the top 10 of Freeride World Qualifer. In 2012 he obtained the diploma of Master of Skiing. Recently he passes the selections for the course for aspiring Alpine Guides. Simon Hittaler He was born on 6 March 1996. He began skiing at the age of two. Parents and older siblings are passionate skiers and the family shares many days on the slopes. At the age of five he began to compete. Subsequently it achieves Italian championship titles and several national successes. At the age of 18 he stops competing because he no longer derives satisfaction from these challenges. About a year and a half later, during a day on skis with his brother immersed in fresh snow, enthusiasm for skiing returns. But strictly freeride. He has a brash, fast and irreverent style. He runs an advertising agency that has ten employees. He has many goals for the future, as an athlete, a person and an entrepreneur. Klaus Gruber Extreme mountaineer, born in 1973. Lives in South Tyrol and loves nature and its challenges. His first expedition was in 2007 in Peru, when he boarded the Ampamayo, (5947m). Conquer the Huascaran, 6,768 meters high. Climb the Nanga Parbat, in 2008, without reaching the summit and the Makalu 2010 at 7,400 m, not reaching the top. In 2013 it is on Gasherbrum 2 (8,034 m): first Italian ski descent directly from the summit. In 2014 he won the K2 (8,611 m) and in 2016 the Cho Oyu (8,211 m). In 2016, climb Everest (8,300 m) without reaching the peak. In 2017 it is on the Nanga Parbat (8,126 m) and in 2018 on the Altai Mountains, in Siberia, to practice Steep Climbing & Freeriding. His hobbies are expeditions, paragliding, volunteering - he is a member of the mountain rescue - theater, fishing, ski tours and ice climbing.
