Penzberg, July 2019 - Rosy cheeks, dry lips, muscle burning and a smile from one ear to the other that you can't get rid of: is this your idea of a wellness retreat? Hell yes! For the real K2 girls, it certainly is. Sunday evening in the Nordkette parking lot in Innsbruck - Anna, Vreni and Birgit are packing their bags in the van and are pondering over the weekend they have just spent. It all started Thursday night after work. The weather forecast was promising, the snow conditions were perfect. All that was left to do was go to the mountains first thing Friday morning. Freeride in the Kaunertal valley, spending time with the girls and a ski tour on Saturday morning. The plan was to leave it there ... But a last minute decision was made to go to Innsbruck on Sunday for a bit of carving and charging on the track - even better! The perfect weekend in the mountains, covering a range of conditions and challenges. But the main objective was to spend time together, having fun. Because after all, we are stronger together.
Anna, Vreni and Birgit are members of the K2 Women's Alliance. The Women's Alliance is an international group of progressive skiers and snowboarders that has become a regular fixture for K2. This select team of women is committed to building the product women need, making their time on the snow even more fun. So whether it's testing K2 products in all the mountain ranges of the world or working on them again at the K2 Development Center in Seattle, the K2 women roll up their sleeves and adapt, remaining true to the values that the Alliance has held for over 20 years: determination, commitment to innovation and a healthy dose of challenge.
THE ROSAL TAPE '' The K2 Alliance supports the fight against breast cancer since 2002. This commitment is symbolized by a pink ribbon that appears on all K2 female products. Every year donations are made, regardless of sales, to the BCRF (Breast Cancer Research Foundation) in the United States and to the Verein Brustkrebs (Breast Cancer Association) in Germany. K2 has donated over a million dollars since the start of the project. The money goes to research and to families suffering from breast cancer. The K2 Women's Alliance aims to support women in their fight against cancer.
Vreni Gfall, member of the K2 Women's Alliance, works as a flight attendant and is always on the move: "I find the commitment of the K2 Women's Alliance in the fight against cancer and the symbol of the pink ribbon on all their products, inspiring and founding at the same time. I am really happy to be a part of it, "he says, adding:" Our incredible group of women of all ages and backgrounds represents the union - at all times and through all that the life throws us in. It is a privilege to have our health and be able to spend time together in the mountains, proudly showing the tape and with the financial support of K2, we hope to offer women with breast cancer the best chance to pursue the sport they love in the best possible way and to experience the healing effects of the natural world - in the same way we do it. "
Verena Stitzinger is a state-certified ski instructor (Germany) and a ski guide (in accordance with the code of the Tyrol ski school) and a member of the K2 Women's Alliance since 2004. She understands how important l "Alliance for K2." K2 really takes the issue of women's skis seriously. That's why I'm really happy to have been a part of it for so long. It's about encouraging new technologies, strengthening confidence in the product and getting the best performance at all levels - and not if the skis match the color well with the jacket Some people are still amazed that there are more advanced skis for women, and not just models for beginners to take to the prosecco bar on This is the image that many still have of women and skiing, unfortunately. But we are here to change all this! "He goes on to say:" Whether it is to load the dust or the groomer, as a mark we are trying to maximize fun for every level of skier. "Anna Gerig is also a state-certified ski instructor and member of the K2 Alliance since 2016:" The products and latest developments that K2 has in store for women in winter 2019 are fantastic: the new Anthem skis and boots are ideal for the track. Talkback is my favorite for ski mountaineering and the innovative Mindbender collection is the starting point for all your freeride adventures. I am already excited for our next days of the K2 Alliance. "
