Calciofinanza.it, taking up an article from Il Fatto Quotidiano, reported in recent days how the governors of Lombardy and Veneto, the mayor of Milan and Cortina and the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano have written to Mario Draghi to ask for a meeting urgent on the issue of governance and the accounts of the Milano-Cortina 2026 Foundation, created to take care of the organization of the sporting part, which also in 2021 presented loss-making accounts, for 21 million euros.
The collection of private sponsorships for which Vincenzo Novari, CEO of the Foundation, had set an ambitious goal of 550 million euros, about a third of the budget, for which no contract has yet been signed, is still at stake. negotiations for 280 million have been announced. If the objective had failed, the costs would fall on public funds, generating a serious criticality on the organization of the Games.
And, moreover, in recent days David Gentili, a member of the Anti-Mafia Committee of the Municipality of Milan, had denounced how, unlike the works for Expo, an anti-mafia protocol that prevents companies close to organized crime from enter the construction sites of the Olympics.
At the same time, the Milan Anti-Mafia District Directorate discovered that companies closely linked with the '' Ndrangheta have infiltrated the rubble business for the construction of the Olympic village and for the disposal of materials at the Porta Romana railway yard.
Three and a half years after the Olympic appointment, the road is going uphill and the highest priority must be guaranteed to the sports organization even if this will involve sacrifices, unfortunately predictable, to the infrastructures presented in the ambitious candidacy.
