It will be Lausanne and not Milan the headquarters designated by the IOC to host in September 2019 the 134th session of the International Olympic Committee that will decide the city that will organize the Winter Olympic Games of 2026.

According to the newspaper La Stampa, the presentation to the CIO of the joint application Milan-Cortina 2026 by the hand of Coni led the International Olympic Committee to opt for a sudden change in the location that will award the 25th edition of the Winter Olympics.
A choice that in a certain way makes it possible to give greater credibility to the Italian Olympic project since the displacement of headquarters has become necessary to ensure greater transparency and avoid any kind of conflict of interests.
However, controversy was not lacking. The mayor of Milano Sala as soon as he was informed of the change of location expressed his disappointment by letting the Lombard capital have already invested a large sum of money and signed several contracts with service companies to better prepare the congress of the IOC.
In the meantime, next October, during the 133th session of the Olympic Committee scheduled in Buenos Aires, the short list will be announced with the names of the cities still in the running for the organization of the 2026 Olympics.
