The legendary Norwegian biathlete Ole Einar Bjoerndalen and the equally legendary Canadian hockey player Hayley Wickenheiser are the new members of the athletes in the International Olympic Committee.

Bjørndalen, neorecordman of Olympic medals, 13 in five editions, was elected with 1087 votes from 80% of the athletes in 2871, Wickenheiser, three golds and a silver in four women's hockey tournament, with 759 votes. Among the non-elect's former long-distance runner blue Pietro Piller.
