Beijing 2022: presented the mascot, is called Bing Dwen Dwen

Two and a half years after the Opening Ceremony, the official mascots of the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics were presented yesterday.

Bing Dwen Dwen is a panda encased in an ice shell that lifts its left paw in greeting showing a heart to represent Chinese hospitality towards the Olympic family. The multi-colored halo surrounding the two eyes wants to represent the tracks of the tracks and at the same time suggest the idea of advanced technologies and the connection while the general view of the mascot can remind an astronaut on a mission towards the future. The name derives from Bing, ice in China where it symbolizes purity and strength, and "Dwen Dwen" to evoke childhood. Instead, it is a puppy of red lantern, Shuey Rhon Rhon, the mascot of the Paralympic Games with a name that evokes warmth, friendship, courage and perseverance. The two mascots were presented yesterday at the Shougang Ice Hockey Arena in Beijing, the final act of an international competition that gathered 5800 proposals from 35 countries and ended with the final choice by representatives of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and Jilin University of the Arts.
