Cervinia awaits the opening of Switzerland's borders for summer skiing

Summer skiing will only start on June 27 if Switzerland reopens its borders to Italy.

It is one of the most sought after destinations for summer skiing. But for this season, countered by the emergence of the coronavirus, we will still have to wait a few days to find out if we can return to make two turns on the Plateau Rosà glacier. The NeveItalia editorial team contacted Cervino S.p.A. by phone for more information: the lift company has informed us that they are working every day to be ready for a possible opening that would be scheduled for June 27. Since the slopes are all located on the Swiss side, the lifts will only be able to operate if the Federal Council of Switzerland decides to open its borders to Italy. Otherwise, summer skiing cannot start for this season. The company also informed us that, in the event of opening, all the health protocols necessary for resuming the business will be adopted. At the moment, Switzerland has decided to open the borders from June 15 only to Germany, France and Austria.
