It is alarm in the Aosta Valley. The mayor of Courmayeur, Stefano Miserocchi, has ordered the closure of the road to Val Ferret and the interpoderale road for Rochefort due to the risk of the collapse of the Planpincieux glacier, on the Grandes Jorasses, on the Italian side of Mont Blanc.

A mass of about 250 thousand cubic meters could slip. The regional technical structures and the Fondazione Montagna Sicura have registered a movement of 50/60 cm a day between late August and September.
The mayor has also ordered the evacuation of some buildings. "We have had to adopt these measures because the scenario of a possible fall in the portion of the glacier affects the man-made valley floor, in particular the municipal access road to Planpincieux," explained Stefano Miserocchi.
The phenomenon proves once again how climate change and high temperatures are putting our glaciers at risk.

Campitello Matese, sciare in Molise a due ore da Roma
