The safety commission of Les 2 Alpes, in the face of the inspection which took place yesterday on the French glacier, has decided to close the summer skiing season on the glacier early.

Sunday 10 July will be the last day on which the Clubs will be able to train on the French glacier, which reaches up to an altitude of 3600 meters. "The snow conditions are not desperate - says Valerio Malfatto, manager of Jam Session which every year organizes courses on the Mont-de-Lans glacier - but for the safety of everyone and in consideration of the weather forecast which foresees high humidity. and hot even in the next few days, the decision was made to close the activities prematurely. Initially the closure was scheduled for the end of July. A situation of very high temperatures is added to the legacy of the previous months which did not allow to accumulate the usual amount of snow to ensure the skiability of the glacier for the whole summer. It could have been skiing for another week, perhaps, but the ski company of the French resort prefers to open only if it is able to offer an adequate quality service . From the summer of 2024 or at the latest from 2025 in Les Deux Alpes the snow during the summer will be guaranteed by a snowmaking system that will cover most of the ghe steel."
As for summer skiing in the summer of 2022, after the closure of Tignes in recent days, the Zermatt / Plateau Rosà glacier, the Stelvio and Hintertux remain accessible.
Jam Session instead gives an appointment for courses to its students in Cervinia, 4 days next weekend, then from 27 to 31 July and again at Plateau Rosà during the week of August.
