If the Fis in 2019 had chosen Little Tibet and not Zürs as the location of the parallels just canceled, in the difficult winter that is approaching, in addition to the opening of the snowboard (3-4 December) and the recovery of the cross-country sprints (21- January 22), Livigno could have hosted for the first time, in the space of a couple of months, races of the maximum circuit even in three different disciplines!
The most attentive will remember that Livigno was in fact a candidate to organize the new stage of the World Cup between Sölden and Levi, which ended up in Austria, in Lech. Thanks to the altitude (1800 meters) that has become a favorable force, with the climate changes underway, it is not certain that in the future we cannot propose the opportunity to even enter the great tour of alpine skiing, perhaps as a substitute for luxury. Soon it will also be the turn of the freestyle specialties to pass through Livigno, given that in 2026, in addition to the snowboard dear to the top testimonial Michela Moioli, it will always be here that the Milan Cortina Olympic medals will be awarded.
And we must not forget that in the embryonic project of the Italian Winter Games, the biathlon had always been located in these parts, before entrusting it to Anterselva. The shooting range is there, inaugurated in December 2017, with godmother Dorothea Wierer, former captain of the Livigno Team on which Luca Moretti, president of the Apt. The Nordic sports teams are at home in the altitude training paradise on the border with Switzerland. The Norwegian Klaebo returned in this period to spend even four weeks, with the aim of fully recovering from the injury.
A choice that proved to be very appropriate, considering that in January he will be among the most anticipated protagonists together with Chicco Pellegrino for the Cup appointment, initially scheduled in Milan, at CityLife. On the other hand, last August, for the first time, even team sports such as Serie A football and basketball chose to move their summer meeting higher, right in the Livigno valley. Aquagranda, which has officially become the CONI Olympic training center a few weeks ago, welcomed both women's Milan and Derthona.
Obviously cross-country skiing remains at the center of the Livigno offer, remembering that next December 18th there will be the great classic of the movement as regards long distances, the 32nd edition of the “Sgambeda”.
