The Agency of the Territory of Rome has ruled that the Marmolada is thirty. The Decree of the President of the Republic, Sandro Pertini, was promulgated in 1982 and reaffirmed by the Council of State in 1998 according to which the borders belong to Trentino.

Four years later, in 2002, the President of the Province of Trento and the Veneto Region had instead modified the cartography, claiming that the borders belonged to the Veneto region.
Now, with the new borders, the Marmolada has passed from the municipality of Rocca Pietore to the municipality of Canazei and Vigo di Fassa.
But Luca Zaia, President of the Veneto Region, does not agree; "Hands off the Marmolada, we will defend it with our nails. We will defend that border, which concerns the ski lifts, economic and identity activities that are from Veneto ".
The first of September the Veneto Regional Council will hold a session on the Marmolada: "We go there to claim a summit that until a few days ago was half Venetian - said the President of the Venetian assembly, Roberto Ciambetti - but also to make tribute, in the centenary of the Great War, to one of the venues of some of the most bitter battles ".
