It was 1979 when the Rocche Giardina ski lift was built at Artesina. Today, after 40 years, the ski lift retires and will be replaced by a chairlift that will start operating from next winter.

The old plant had the valley station at 1601 meters high and the mountain station at 1937 meters and could transport 719 people per hour.
After several engine overhauls, mechanical and driving parts, and the final approval of the project to replace the plant with a new chairlift, the Rocche Giardina ski lift starts to enter rightfully into the history of Piedmontese and Italian skiing. the Leitner company, a builder of the plant, which had been dismantled, would like to keep some pieces in its Vipiteno museum.
Some plates will be exhibited in September in the windows of a Genoa store, while others will be distributed to those who have requested it.

The plant served the homonymous track and the connection to Prato Nevoso. At about 2/3 of the route the ascent was crossed right by the ski slope that at that point traced the change of direction of its characteristic and unmistakable "S" in its run to the valley, as happened to most of the plants of the period before the safety regulations required the construction of the anti-crossing tunnels between trailed and downhill skiers.
