Montacampione Ski Area, change of ownership. The lifts may be closed this season

The entrepreneur Stefano Iorio, who joined Montecampione Ski Area as majority shareholder in 2016, signed a sale agreement with private investors of the holding MISAMontacampione which holds 87% of Montecampione Ski Area s.r.l.

Stefano Iorio's decision to leave matured due to the impossibility of establishing a positive relationship of collaboration with the public institutions of the Camunian territory. "The net closure of the public component to the development projects of the area betrays what were the premises that led me to commit myself, with a staff of very valid collaborators, to Montecampione Ski Area. My entry into the company in 2016, effectively solved a situation created by the management with a public majority, was leading straight to the liquidation of the company itself. The lack of investments in previous years, on the whole area, both for the ski lifts and for the snow-making systems have generated considerable delays and complexity in the management that involved me ”, Stefano Iorio said. The ski lifts, therefore, may remain closed this season. On October 31, a press conference was held by the board members of the Consortium, Fabio Fusina, Marco Daminelli, Gianmaria Fusar and Paolo Birnbaum as partners of the Montecampione Ski Area srl company. During the conference, the current situation of the ski resort was discussed. Paolo Birnbaum, MISA minority shareholder, told the television broadcaster Più Valli Tv: "We are not thinking about the next winter season. We are sorry to say this for all those who work in the sector, but we must think about the future, the next ten years. This is our top priority. Right now, together with public bodies and hotel investors, we are truly a team and this is the best news that Montecampione could have. Now this team must give its concrete results and I am sure it will ”. In recent months, the Lombardy Council approved the Territorial Pact for the strategic, integrated and sustainable development of the Montecampione and Lower Vallecamonica ski area, which envisages an investment of 13 million euros. In this regard, shareholder Paolo Birnbaum explained to Più Valli TV: "This Pact is an indispensable element for the relaunch of Montecampione. But not at any cost and not with anyone. What we need is reliability and credibility ”.
