The Tar dell''Aquila today canceled the authorizations granted by the Abruzzo Region and the Municipality of Ovindoli for the construction of new ski facilities and related slopes in the Ovindoli ski area: this was announced with a note by the Abruzzo Ornithological Station Onlus, according to as reported by the ANSA agency.

The appeal was filed by the associations Salviamo l'Orso, Abruzzese Ornithological Station, LIPU, Mountain Wilderness and CAI. For the associations, "it is an important victory in favor of extremely rare habitats and species that are internationally protected. If the new tracks had been authorized, they would have involved the excavation and destruction of over 10 hectares of very rare high-altitude grassland habitats. in the Sirente Velino Park with a very serious impact on the species present ". According to what is reported in the note of the associations, the judges corrected the work of the Environmental Impact Assessment Committee of the Abruzzo Region and the Municipality of Ovindoli. We report the lack of involvement in the procedure of the Carabinieri-Forestali who manage the Monte Velino Reserve, the environmental impact assessment made by the municipal surveyor without the necessary skills, the omission of the new landscape assessment by the Superintendency after the project had been modified due to the violation of the law establishing the Park.
