After the tragedy of the Marmolada, one wonders what the situation is on the glaciers. In this regard, Tele Sondrio News interviewed Umberto Capitani, director of the company that manages the ski lifts on the Stelvio, to understand what the conditions on the glacier are and how the summer ski season is proceeding.
"The situation is not the best, but it is not dramatic either. In the last few days the conditions have improved because there is less humidity. In the month of June, however, there was high humidity up to very high altitudes and the thermal 0 it has moved over 4000 meters. On the glacier there is an average of 500-600 people a day. We are in line with other years. We have guests from all over Europe and overseas. There are several French, Italians, Czechoslovakians, Poles, Several nationalities are training with us "explains Umberto Capitani.
"What happened on the Marmolada is dramatic, but you can't close everything. You have to live with climate change as it has always been in the past. Surely you have to learn to live in a different way and organize situations in a different way" concludes Umberto Capitani.
