The big air of the snowboard of the World Cup of Modena has begun, within Skipass, the Tourism and Winter Sports Fair, with the contest of the qualifications.

Two male batteries that qualified the final ten to the top five of each battery. In the first one the best score, also in absolute terms, was obtained by the American Chris Corning, who had already done 90.25 in the first run but which in the second one further improved to 91.50. Behind him were the Japanese Ruki Tobita (89.75), the Austrian Clemens Millauer (88.25), the Finnish champion Roope Tonteri (86.50), and the only blue to qualify for the final stages with ninth best score ever, Alberto Maffei (83.50), seventh last year in Milan, still his best result in the World Cup.
In the second battery the best was the Norwegian Marcus Kleveland (89.25) in front of the New Zealander Tiam Collins (86.25), the Dutch Nick van der Velden (85.25), the Finnish Kalle Jarvilehto (84.75) and to the Japanese Takeru Otsuka (82.00). Eliminated the other blue: nineteenth Emiliano Lauzi (first drums, 76.25), thirty-sixth Nicola Dioli (first drums, 40.00), thirty-seventh Marco Kerschhackl (first drums, 39.75), thirty-ninth Emil Zulian (first drums, 25, 50), forty-fifth Loris Framarin (first drum, 12.50), forty-sixth Nicola Liviero (first drum, 10.00), forty eight Elia Fuser (second drum, 7.50).
A single qualifying and final battery for six women, the best score for the Japanese Miyabi Onitsuka (84.25) who lined up the Austrian dominating specialty Anna Gasser (82.50), the other Japanese Reira Iwabuchi (80.25), Swiss Lia-Mara Bösch (78.00), Norwegian Silje Norendal (75.00) and Czech Šárka PanÄochová (68.25). Unfortunately the only blue, the 17-year-old from Predazzo Margherita Meneghetti could not be in the race, she fell during Thursday's training and caused a contusive-distortive trauma of the cervical spine, she will now have to rest for a few weeks.
