FIS visited the organizing committee, led by Ezio Zandonella Maiucco, ahead of the parallel slalom being added to the top-level circuit calendar. "After 15 years of European Cup competition, this is truly something special for our association."
Saturday, January 30, 2027 will be a historic day for Racines, when the Alpine Snowboard World Cup arrives in the South Tyrolean resort for a double PSL on the Enzian piste, a traditional European Cup venue.
The organizing committee of the “Schneasurfer Ridnaun” has been preparing for some time for the first top-level circuit event for the entire Racines-Giovo ski area; the classic FIS summer inspection has just taken place, with local representatives in attendance alongside officials from Infront and the company managing the lifts, led by Josef Schoelzhorn. A number of important details were clarified during the visit.
Racines becomes the second South Tyrolean stop after the iconic mid-December event in Carezza, while Italy will also host a night-time PGS on Faloria in Cortina during the first part of the season.
The organizing committee chaired by Ezio Zandonella Maiucco is working at full speed ahead of the parallel slaloms, which will represent the highlight of winter 2026/27 for the area. After 15 years in which the Schneasurfer Ridnaun team successfully organized European Cup races, the “promotion” to the World Cup was a kind of recognition for the association. The recent inspection was the first important step, covering the positioning of the cameras and logistical issues such as transporting equipment from the gondola’s bottom station to its top station at Racines-Giovo.
The facilities at the Summit were also inspected; during the World Cup, they will host the athletes’ lounge, the Media Center and the VIP area. “Every step forward in the organization makes the first top-level circuit event in Racines increasingly tangible for us.
During the inspection, we clarified important details regarding television production and logistics—areas that have a completely different scope at a World Cup compared with the events organized so far. This further step forward after 15 years of European Cup competition is something special for our association. We know, however, that there is still a great deal of work to do,” said Ezio Zandonella Maiucco, head of the organizing committee.
