At 8, he tries to become the youngest to climb El Capitan

Sam Baker began on Tuesday, accompanied by dad Joe, the attempt to climb one of the most coveted mountains in Yosemite National Park, California.

At 8, he tries to become the youngest to climb El Capitan. It is the feat of Sam Baker who tomorrow, after four days on the wall with dad Joe, should reach the summit of one of the most sought-after mountains, a 1000 meter high monolith located in Yosemite National Park. Father and son have been planning this climb for two years. Ever since they learned that Selah Schneiter, a 10-year-old girl, also “accompanied” by her parent, had completed “The Nose”, the most famous vertical route and one of the most demanding rock climbing challenges. This is the same mountain, made famous by the film Free Solo, awarded in 2019 with the Oscar as best documentary, which tells the first solo climb without the aid of ropes, by extreme mountaineer Alex Honnold. In between pitches, during breaks, Sam plays chess, eats prepackaged lasagna and watches the Lion King. He told about it in the live shows he did with various American media, including CNN, which are taking an interest in his business.
