A great mountaineer leaves us. Carlo Alberto Cimenti, known as “Cala” for all, was hit today by an avalanche in the Sestriere area, to be precise between the Cima del Bosco and Col Chalvet, the gully that descends towards the Argentera Valley.
Forty-five years old, Cimenti was found in the evening together with his friend Patrick Negro, with whom he was climbing the mountains of his home; the alarm raised by family members before the death of the two climbers was ascertained a few hours later. The last great “Cala” feat was signed on Nanga Parbat, in 2019, signing one of the ten highest peaks in the world and among the most difficult ever.
