First historic winter on K2 of a Nepalese expedition: what a feat!

The only 8000er ever climbed in winter was reached by the expedition led by Nirmal Purja, with Mingma G the only one to have reached the summit without the use of oxygen.

It's done! Today one of humanity's greatest mountaineering feats and achievements has been accomplished. The confirmation came from the Pakistani tourism office. The only 8000 that had never been climbed in winter was reached by the Nepalese expedition led by Nirmal Purja. With him they participated in the ascent that seemed impossible until a few days ago Gelje Sherpa, Mingma David Sherpa, Sona Sherpa, Mingma Tenzi Sherpa, Pem Chhiri Sherpa, Dawa Temba Sherpa, Kili Pemba Sherpa, Dawa Tenjing Sherpa and Mingma G. The latter is the only one to have reached the "top of the Italians" without the use of oxygen. It took them longer than expected because the 10 climbers would have decided to wait until everyone had arrived 10 meters from the finish line to be able to reach it together! An enterprise within an enterprise. But above all a great message, considering how it had gone on July 31, 1954, when Compagnoni and Lacedelli were the first men to conquer K2, hiding Bonatti's merits.
