Hervé Barmasse, mountaineer and explorer, opens a new route on the Matterhorn with his father.
Four generations, one "intent": to go through the mountains in search of adventure, of the new! This is the Barmasse family of Valtournenche; mountain climbers, mountaineers, explorers and alpine guides of the Matterhorn. And it is precisely on the "Gran Becca" - as the Matterhorn is called by the Valle d'Aosta - that on March 17, 2010, after a generation, father and son bond together to try to climb that Couloir that, from the Enjambée, plummets for 1200 m towards the base of the south face of the Matterhorn. An old project attempted 24 years earlier by his father Marco and today taken over by his son Hervé. A difficult route, defined by the strongest climbers of the 80s as "one of the last big logical projects of the Alps", and still unresolved in 2010.
Marco Barmasse: “I saw the wall that blocked my way 24 years ago. There was also a friend and an ice bolt from the attempt by the Swiss: the passage was very demanding but Hervé, stubborn and resolute, after a few attempts managed to pass ... "" You know, in the couloir you were overwhelmed, almost crushed, by the immense south face of the Matterhorn ... ".
Hervé Barmasse: “We always ended up talking about the Matterhorn which for us“ Barmasse ”represents much more than just a mountain. Garessio 2000. Sci con vista mare sul colle Casotto
Garessio 2000 si trova alla Colla di Casotto, a circa 13 km dal centro di Garessio, in una posizione particolare delle Alpi Liguri. La stazione domina la Val Casotto e l’Alta Val Tanaro e, dalla sommità del Monte Berlino, regala un panorama che nelle giornate più limpide raggiunge il Mar Ligure e, in condizioni eccezionali, persino la Corsica. È proprio questo incontro tra montagna e mare l’elemento più caratteristico del comprensorio.
