The last men's individual competition of the Olympic four-year period goes to Germany, which in any case shows a Johannes Boe almost in five-circle form.

The first lap of the men's starting line in Anterselva does not see any protagonist of courageous attacks but, as often happens, it is decidedly tactical waiting for the first shooting session to unravel the skein even if Johannes Boe takes the lead before the shooting range of operations gaining a few seconds of advantage.
To exploit the 5/5 in the first session are the Norwegians Bakken and Laegreid with a few seconds ahead of Fillon Maillet. Johannes Boe is wrong once and finds himself 16 seconds behind the head; penalty lap also for Christiansen, Babikov and Hofer while there are two mistakes by Bormolini.
With the rhythm of the best days, Johannes in 800 meters returns to Fillon Maillet also dragging the German Doll and the trio on the most demanding climb returns to the leading couple. In the second session on the ground Johannes Boe and Doll leave, at 9.1 Guigonnat with his 10/10; after a penalty round Bakken is 20 seconds ahead of 5 Krcmar (10/10). Laegreid misses twice as well as Quentin Fillon Maillet; comes another mistake by Hofer who finds himself in fifteenth position one minute behind the leaders, third mistake by Bormolini around the twenty-fifth square.
The German keeps up with Johannes Boe, a mistake for both in the first standing session and the Norwegian finds himself out with about ten seconds on the German; about thirty seconds out of Seppala and Laegreid who make no mistake and two pairs are formed in the lead with Doll about ten seconds behind Boe and the pursuers at half a minute.
In the last polygon Doll does not make a mistake while Johannes has to make a penalty lap and finds himself having to recover 7 seconds in the last lap where, however, he raises the white flag while with two errors Seppala surrenders and Laegreid puts his hands on the third step of the podium.
At the finish line Benedikt Doll (0-0-1-0) precedes Johannes Boe (1-0-1-1) by 31.3 and Sturla Laegreid (0-2-0-1) by 1.28.8. We witness the sprint for fourth place with Guigonnat (0-0-2-0) who burns Bakken (0-1-2-0) to 1-34-7; Finnish Seppala is sixth (0-1-0-2).
Lukas Hofer (1-1-1-1) collects the ninth position at 1.56.4 with the seventh fastest time on skis while Thomas Bormolini (2-1-1-3) is 28th at 4.53.0
