Biathlon: Roeiseland brace - Eckhoff in the pursuit of Ostersund, badly the blue

The women's pursuit continues to be a Norwegian terrain of conquest: with today's victory in Roeiseland nothing has been left to the opponents this season even if Tiril Eckhoff's winning streak is interrupted. With the polygon beaten by the wind, Wierer and Vittozzi pay a heavy price in penalty rounds and are beyond fifteenth position.

A trio in command is formed in the first lap with Dorothea Wierer caught in the grip between Tirl Eckhoff and Ingrid Tondrevald who is the only one of the first not to make mistakes in the first shooting session, finding herself managing a ten-second advantage over Hauser and Haecki , a little more on Sola and Roeiseland. Tiril Eckhoff and Wierer, a mistake for them, find themselves 25 seconds behind the Norwegian leader. Tandrevold gains seconds out of all in the second lap but pays a three-lap penalty in a windswept polygon; 5/5 is the heritage of a few among which Mars Roeiseland who takes the lead in the middle of the race with 16 seconds over Sola (0-1) and 45 seconds over Herrmann (0-0) and Brorsson (0-0). Wierer and Eckhoff make two mistakes and find themselves around the fifteenth position at one minute and 20 seconds, forty seconds from the podium. The wind intensifies and the first standing shooting session becomes agony: Roeiseland misses twice and stretches. Fifty seconds on Julia Simon (2-0-1) and Tiril Eckhoff who draws 5 out of 5. The provisional fourth is Sola even with 3 errors is at 1.05.4 while around the minute and 20 there are Gasparin, Anais Chevalier, Preuss and Todorova. For Wierer there are two other mistakes and he finds himself navigating around two minutes behind. Two further errors for Roeiseland who, however, manages to shoot in about thirty seconds and flies towards victory, the second of the year in this format after Hochfilzen; Eckhoff makes a mistake only once and goes for a Norwegian brace while Hanna Sola and Julia Simon find themselves fighting for the third step of the podium. Wierer is still wrong twice and there are seven mistakes today. Mars Roeiseland (0-0-2-2) returns to victory after three months with an advantage of 29.3 over Tiril Eckhoff (1-2-0-1) and 44.0 over the Belarusian Sola (0-1-3-1) who takes the second podium in his career after the Bronze in the Sprint of the World Championships. Fourth place for Julia Simon (2-0-1-2) at 1.01.7 and best career result for the Norwegian Kalkenberg (0-1-1-0) at 1.54.8. Preuss is sixth (1-0-1-2) at 2.05.9 ahead of Ivona Fialkova (1-1-2-1). Dorothea Wierer (1-2-2-2) is 18th at 2.46.9 while Lisa Vittozzi (3-1-0-1) is 26th at 3.02.4.
