Biathlon: Eckhoff dominates the pursuit in Nove Mesto, Italy disaster at the shooting range

In the Nove Mesto women's pursuit there is yet another demonstration of the embarrassing superiority of Tiril Eckhoff who puts the seal on the tenth victory of the season. Eight mistakes for Vittozzi, nine for Wierer sink Italian hopes.

In the first lap Tiril Eckhoff, chasing the second specialty World Cup in two days, stretches on a patrol of six chasers made up of Dzhima, Alimbekava, Wierer, Tandrevold, Vittozzi and Wierer. The Italians' race ends virtually at the first polygon where both fail three shots, plummeting in the standings. Eckhoff is not wrong, who comes out of the shooting session with about twenty seconds ahead of Alimbekava, Roeiseland and Tandrevold who are not wrong. Five out of five also for Preuss at 34 seconds and Davidova at 43 flanked by Dzhima after the Ukrainian penalty lap. Eckhoff is still perfect in the second polygon while the others are wrong and the German Preuss takes advantage of it, with a 10/10 on the ground, to move into the first chasing pair, with Mars Roeiseland, at 43 seconds. A little further back, over 50, Dzhima (9/10), Tandrevold (9/10) and the Belarusian Sola (9/10). Vittozzi and Wierer still miss twice each and, with a devastating 5/10 on the ground, they find themselves over two minutes. Eckhoff can afford the luxury of missing the first shot of the race in the third range by extending again on all the pursuers who attend the penalty round and find themselves one minute behind with Franziska Preuss, Roeiseland and Herrmann. Ten seconds further Paulina Fialkova and Yuliia Dzhima. The two errors in the last polygon do not affect Eckhoff's absolute domination while behind it is Denise Herrmann who takes advantage of the errors of her pursuing companions and launches herself towards a long-awaited podium in the season. Four of them find themselves fighting for the third position: Dzhima, Preuss. Roeiseland and Persson. Tiril Eckhoff (0-0-1-2) imposes himself on the finish line with a 24.0 advantage over Denise Herrmann (1-0-0-0), third place at 29.9 for Marte Roeiseland (0-1-1-1) who still keeps in the running for the specialty cup. Lisa Vittozzi (3-2-0-3) is twenty-seventh at 2.41.4, Dorothea Wierer (3-2-2-2) thirty-fourth at 2.53.9.
