Biathlon: Elvira Oeberg also wins the Mass Start in Annecy, fourth Dorothea Wierer

The first start in line that closes the initial section of the Biathlon World Cup sees the victory back to back after the first place in the Pursuit of the Swedish Elvira Oeberg yesterday. Excellent race by Dorothea Wierer who is in first position at the last polygon and fights up to the last meter for the podium obtaining the best performance of the season.

Absent at the last minute Anais Bescond, Denise Hermann and Linn Persson, in addition to the already announced Tirl Eckhoff and Franziska Preuss, are the Oeberg sisters to dictate the pace at the start without making a selection. The first polygon sees Elvira Oeberg, Alimbekava and Magnusson fall who make a mistake once, Lisa Vittozzi's 5 missed targets have yet another amnesia in the first shooting session while there are 19 without errors. The first selection takes place in the second shooting session from which a leading group composed of Julia Simon, Reztsova, Anais Chevalier, Lisa Hauser, Brorsson and Wierer comes out. while Elvira Oeberg is still wrong and Roeiseland and Tandrevold jump with two penalty laps, even three for Hanna Oeberg. In the third lap they try to force the two French and the Russian with Hauser and Wierer maintaining a slightly more controlled pace. Alimbekava and Sola, both with 9/10 on the ground, try to recover from about twenty seconds behind. Wierer and Hauser are right who are not wrong on their feet, the two are chased after a mistake by Julia Simon at 13.4, Lotte Lie at 16.2, Reztsova at 18.9 and Anais Chevalier at 20 seconds. Elvira Oeberg is at 36.4 and Mars Roeiseland at 46.2. In the fourth lap, Hauser does not keep pace with Wierer as the two French and the Russian approach, they all make a mistake in the last polygon while Elvira Oeberg and Jislova find zero. There are seven for the podium considering, in the space of ten seconds, Julia Simon, Wierer, Reztsova, Hauser and Roeiseland. Elvira Oeberg is impregnable and leaves to win the Mass Start after yesterday's Pursuit. At 500 meters are Simon, Reztsova, Wierer and Jislova to compete for the other steps of the podium. On the finish line Elvira Oeberg (18/20) precedes Julia Simon (18/20) by 10.7, Rezysova 12.1 (18.20) while Wierer (19/20) is fourth at 13.3. Fifth Jislova (20/20) at 13.9, sixth Roeiseland (18/20) at 19.3. Nigmatullina is seventh (19/20) at 28.2, preceding Davidova (18/20) eighth at 30.1, Hauser (19/20) at 31.1 and Hanna Oeberg (16/20) at 40.4. Lisa Vittozzi, with 7 errors, is twenty-ninth at 3.26.6
