The Mass Start that closes the World Cup program before the World Championships starts with a first round which, as expected, does not make a selection. At the first shooting range Lukas Hofer takes away the satisfaction of being the first to leave the shooting session just as Didier Bionaz scores a 5/5. They find themselves chasing after serving a round of penalties many expected protagonists such as the French Fillon Maillet and Jacquelin, the Norwegians Dale, Tarjei Boe, the Russians Latypov, Loginov and Eliseev, the Germans Doll and Lesser, the Swede Ponsiluoma.
However, the gap is recovered in the second lap and they find themselves in 25 at the entrance of the second session on the ground. Still Lukas Hofer, always precise, is the quickest to get up and leads a platoon with Fak, Laegreid, Simon Eder, Johannes Boe, Fillon Maillet, Dale, Tarjei Boe and Christiansen and the German Doll: all in about ten seconds. Didier Bionaz pays a penalty lap who finds himself at 28 seconds around the twentieth position.
Johannes Boe in the third lap tries to shell the group and stretches by arrogance presenting himself at the shooting range with about ten seconds of advantage; a slow 5/5 allows the rapprochement of Quentin Fillon Maillet while all the others are wrong and there are 7 to chase at about thirty seconds. They are Christiansen, Hofer, Peiffer, Doll, Eder, Fak and Tarjei Boe.
The leader exploits his devastating superiority in the fund re-extending in the fourth lap where he digs a lead of 12 seconds over the French and 45 seconds over the group of pursuers. The treads fail once but their positions are crystallized. Behind Fak is not wrong, putting his hands on third place. Two mistakes cause Lukas Hofer to plunge beyond tenth position.
At the finish line Johannes Boe (0-0-0-1) precedes Quentin Fillon Maillet (1-0-0-1) by 31.3 and Jakov Fak (0-0-1-0) by 44.2. Lukas Hofer (0-0-1-2) is fifteenth at 1.16.3
