Biathlon: Sweden wins the Female Relay of Nove Mesto, Italy sixth

Sweden gets their hands on the specialty World Cup while we are witnessing a flattering test of Italy lined up with a new formation with Sanfilippo at the launch, Wierer and Vittozzi in the central fractions and Carrara in the last and fighting for the podium, far away 12 seconds, until the end.

Ingrid Tandrevold (0 + 1) "imposed" herself in the launch fraction with a margin of a couple of seconds over the Swiss Cadurisch (0 + 1), the Ukrainian Blashko (0 + 2) and the Austrian Schwaiger (0 + 1). Anais Bescon (0 + 1) pays 10 seconds, the Russian Kaisheva (0 + 3) 18, the Swedish Brorsson (0 + 1) 29 and the German Hammerschmidt (0 + 2) 42. Italy gives up for the first time for a long time at the launch of Lisa Vittozzi, and Federica Sanfilippo (0 + 4) is seventeenth at 53.8. In the second fraction, Tiril Eckhoff (0 + 1) and Justine Braisaz (0 + 1) make the difference also at the shooting range and the Norwegian in the last lap wins 11 seconds; Dzhima (0 + 3) moves into third position in the middle of the race at 21.3 from Norway, followed by Belarus where Alimbekava (0 + 1), after Kryuko (0 + 1) hold. Hanna Oeberg (0 + 2) takes Sweden to fifth position at 39.4; Dorothea Wierer (0 + 1) goes back to eighth place but always with a delay of around one minute. The first polygon of the third lap is devastating; Lien comes out well with only one refill and a half minute ahead of the American Egan, the Belarusian Hanna Sola who misses three times and the Swedish Persson with a refill. Two mistakes for Lisa Vittozzi who is provisionally fifth 15 seconds from the podium. Chloe Chevalier and the Ukrainian Merkushyna turn and find themselves over the minute. Ida Lien complicates her life by paying a penalty lap at the standing shooting range where Persson and Vittozzi go for 5/5 and find themselves leading the group. At the last change, Persson (0 + 1) has a 7-second advantage over Egan (0 + 1), Vittozzi (0 + 2) and Sola (0 + 5). They are at 37 seconds Lien (1 + 4), Chloe Chevalier (1 + 3) and Kuklina (0 + 0). In the last session on the ground Elvira Oeberg comes out unscathed as does Michela Carrara while Kruchinkina has to resort to a recharge. Two errors for Roeiseland with Norway 40 seconds from Italy in fifth position. Mironova also struggles for the podium 58 behind the leader, Pidrushna one minute with Julia Simon. At the last polygon the most precise is Kruchinkina (0 + 2) who finds herself dueling for the victory with Elvira Oeberg (0 + 2). At half a minute the American Irwin, Julia Simon (0 + 3), Carrara (0 + 3), Pidrushna (0 + 1) and Roeiseland (0 + 4) which in the space of ten seconds will compete for the third step of the podium. Sveiza (0 + 6) imposes itself with 1.6 seconds ahead of Belarus (0 + 9); third France (1 + 8) at 27.8; disqualified Ukraine (1 + 10). At the photo finish at 40.1, Norway (1 + 10), the United States (0 + 7) and Italy (0 + 10) are playing for fourth position.
