After five second places, including Silver in the Sprint of the Pokljuka World Championships, and two third places, the Frenchman Simon Desthieux scores for the first time in his career in the Nove Mesto Sprint which, as in the women's field, distinguished by minimum gaps at the finish. With the fourth place Sturla Laegreid ignites the fight for the World Cup against Johannes Boe, only eleventh.

Simon Desthieux (0-0) wins his first career victory by just 2.4 seconds ahead of Swedish Sebastian Samuelsson (0-0) who despite being faster on skis than the Frenchman loses the race for being slower in two polygons. The third place at 4.4 seconds goes to the German Arnd Peiffer (0-0) who confirms the excellent condition shown in yesterday's triumphal relay.
In the lead before the standing polygon, third at the exit of the penalty lap, the Norwegian Sturla Holm Laegreid (0-1) must settle for fourth place, who pays 10.4 to the winner but puts important hay in the farmhouse in the fight for the crystal ball against Johannes Boe (1-2), eleventh at 38.5.
Tarjei Boe (0-1) at 10.6 closes in fifth position, Benedikt Doll (0-1) sixth at 14.5 for six athletes in fifteen seconds at the start of tomorrow's Pursuit.
Further away, at 26.9, the French Quentin Fillon Maillet (1-1) who precedes his compatriot Emilien Jacquelin (0-1) by three seconds. Jakov Fak (0-0) is ninth at 32.8 and the Russian Latypov (0-1) at 37.2 is tenth.
The best of the blues is Lukas Hofer (1-1), twenty-first at 57.3.
