Biathlon: Eckhoff in the pursuit of Nove Mesto, Wierer fifth

In the Nove Mesto Pursuit, Tiril Eckhoff puts on ice the twelfth victory of the season, the overall World Cup and the Specialty Cup. Dorothea Wierer fights for the podium but, after a decisive mistake at the last polygon, is overtaken in the last lap by Preuss and Roeiseland.

The first lap does not change the hierarchy of the race but, taking advantage of its typical exceptional firing times, at the first shooting range Dorothea Wierer makes the connection with Denise Herrmann and, in the company of Franziska Preuss, they find themselves in three on the tracks of Tiril Eckhoff about twenty seconds. In a shooting session where very few fail, Alimbekava follows at 35 seconds ahead of Elvira Oeberg, Dunklee, Dzhima and Hauser. The blue leaves the burden of the chase to the German couple and the trio loses 7-8 seconds in the second round; in the lead all are wrong and Eckhoff keeps his head with about thirty seconds ahead of Alimbekava, Hauser, Dunklee - all with 10/10 on the ground - flanked by Preuss and Wierer. Herrmann is a few seconds behind and struggles to get back to Wierer and Preuss who, after a hole in the chassis made by Dunklee, find themselves chasing the Belarusian and the Austrian. Eckhoff is still solid at the first shooting range on her feet, Alimbekava, Preuss and Wierer are not mistaken, leaving 35 seconds behind the Norwegian; the rest of the world is over 50 seconds with Herrmann still making mistakes. It is the Belarusian who has the burden of making the rhythm with Preuss and the blue more covered. An exceptional last shooting range allows Tiril Eckhoff to take the twelfth victory of the season, the Specialty Cup and the overall World Cup. Alimbekava is not wrong who is 44 seconds while Dorothea Wierer first hesitates and then misses the last target and finds herself taking a penalty lap with Franziska Preuss. The two, at the start of the last lap, have 12 seconds ahead of Roeiseland (19/20) and Davidova (19/20). An arrembante Roeiseland reaches Wierer and Preuss in the last gjro; on the finish line Tiril Eckhoff (0-1-0-0) closes with an advantage of 34.6 seconds over the Belarusian Alimbekava (0-0-0-0) and 40.2 over Franziska Preuss (0-1-0-1); the German holds the return of Mars Roeiseland (1-0-0-0), fourth at 41.6 in front of Dorothea Wierer (0-1-0-1), fifth at 46.0
