Hofer at the attack in the men's Sprint of Kontiolahti, in front and a three-way fight for the specialty cup

It starts at 15:30 with the French Fillon Maillet and Jacquelin and the Swede Samuelsson to compete for the victory and the red bib as specialty leader. Italy tries it out with Hofer, who is chasing the first podium of the season, but there will also be Bormolini, Giacomel and Bionaz.

The specialty classification sees Samuelsson in command, winner of two Sprints at the beginning of the season in Oestersund, with a single point of margin over Fillon Maillet and four over Jacquelin. It is therefore a three-way fight for the red bib, while the Norwegians, the Swede Ponsiluoma and, why not, some surprises could also enter for the victory of the day. Italy is played by Bormolini, Giacomel and Bionaz, returning from 7th place in the relay, but the best card is Lukas Hofer, who came out in great shape from the Olympic Games and is looking for the first podium of the season. The South Tyrolean has never hit a top 3 in Kontiolahti but, numbers in hand, March is his month, since he has achieved 8 of his 10 career podiums. Here the IBU Live Timing! Here is the starting list! Five different winners were seen in the six World Cup Sprints disputed this season. The only one capable of repeating himself was Samuelsson, while Fillon Maillet won in the last race held in Ruhpolding, then winning silver in Beijing behind Johannes Boe. Heavy absence of the Norwegian, as well as that of his brother Tarjei, the only active athletes to have won a Sprint in Kontiolahti. Two years ago on these snows Tarjei Boe prevailed in front of Peiffer and Johannes himself. On the other hand, the Swedes Samuelsson and Ponsiluoma and the French Jacquelin, who made an excellent impression in the relay, have already reached the podium.
