Johannes Boe wins the Sprint of Nove Mesto and approaches Martin Fourcade

Another outstanding performance by Johannes Thingnes Boe brings the Norwegian only 18 points behind Martin Fourcade in the overall World Cup standings.

Johannes Boe imposes himself with disarming authority in the Sprint of Nove Mesto where he combines 10/10 at the shooting range with by far the best time on skis where he finishes 21 seconds to Quentin Fillon Maillet, 47 to Martin Fourcade and more than 50 seconds to all others. In front of yet another Norwegian Martian test, Fillon Maillet's race (0 + 0) is exceptional, limiting the damage and finishing at 22.8 while the third placed Tarjei Boe (0 + 0) even pays 1.01.1 in the ranking the final. The home colors are kept high by Michal Krcmar (0 + 0), Olympic silver medalist in the Sprint, who is fourth at 1.14.1 from Boe and just 13 seconds from the podium and precedes the Slovenian stainless Jakov Fak (0+ 0) two and a half seconds. The Czech in the last lap also overtakes Martin Fourcade (0 + 1) who must settle for sixth place at 1.19.1 losing important points for supremacy in the World Cup. An excellent test of the twenty-four year old Finnish Toro Seppala (0 + 0), seventh, leads him to play the second Mass Start of his career after that of the PyeongChang Olympics and to precede the Frenchman Simon Desthieux (1 + 1), the Norwegian Johannes Dale (1 +0) and Emilien Jacquelin (1 + 0) in free fall on the last lap from sixth to tenth. at 1.44.4 from Johannes Boe. The best of the Italians is the newcomer Tommaso Giacomel who with 10/10 at the shooting range closes in twenty-seventh position at 2.23.4; Thomas Bormolini's test is also good and with 10/10 at the shooting range he finishes in thirty-second position at 2.27.0.
