The blue technical staff decided to field Lisa Vittozzi at the launch, who despite the usual problems in the ground series in the relay has always given guarantees, especially in this fraction, where she could find some confidence. Following there will be Dorothea Wierer, with Samuela Comola and Federica Sanfilippo in the last two fractions. After the 6th place in Oestersund and the 13th in Hochfilzen, Italy aims to return close to the top 5. The opponents will not be lacking, but several top nations will present themselves at the start with remodeled formations that we certainly will not see at the Olympic Games .
Here the IBU live timing!
Here is the starting list!
Those who are aiming for victory are Belarus, which fielded its best four athletes (although in Beijing the order could be different), as well as France, with the only variation concerning the inclusion of Chloe Chevalier in place of Bescond . Different attitude of Sweden, which leaves the Oeberg sisters at rest, while Norway will have Roeiseland in the first place and then leaves room for the athletes present on site. However, three quarters of the “starting” formation will be missing, that is Eckhoff, Tandrevold and Lien.
In the last five relays disputed in Ruhpolding we find four different nations on the top step of the podium, with Germany leading the way thanks to two victories (2017 and 2018) and four top 3. The Germans are without Franziska Preuss but present themselves at the away with the best possible training. France also has a good tradition, coming from the success of 2019 and from second place in 2020, when closed behind Norway. Italy was instead second behind the hosts of Germany in 2018. On the occasion Vittozzi and Wierer were perfect in the first two stages to then give space to Nicole Gontier and Federica Sanfilippo, who brought Italy to the podium.
