Makarainen dominates in the wind and returns to victory in Mass, fourth Wierer

With a great shooting performance where 19/20 marks the Finnish imposes herself in the test with the start in line that closes the Oberhof stage.

The race started in the name of the Norwegian Tiril Eckhoff who imposes his law in the first three rounds, presenting himself at the third shooting range with a half minute advantage on a trio composed by the Belarusian Kryuko, Paulina Fialkova and Kaisa Makarainen while Mars Roeiseland and Persson are at 45 seconds and just ahead Denise Herrmann and Dorothea Wierer who, despite 3 mistakes in the two sessions on the ground, limits the gap to less than a minute. Gusts of wind transform standing polygons into sentences; Tiril Eckhoff runs three penalty laps after the third session while Kryuko and Makarainen (one mistake on the ground) emerge unscathed taking command of the operations with 46 seconds ahead of the Norwegian. They limit the damage with one error Roeiseland, provisional fourth at 55.4, Wierer at 1.05.9, Herrmann at 1.07.5. and the three get together on the fourth lap showing up together at the last polygon. Makarainen confirms himself in the day of grace at the shooting while Kryuko jumps that after a 15/15 puts 4 errors in line and gets off the podium. Herrmann also jumps with three penalties while Eckhoff takes his time at the shooting range and comes out with only one mistake but side by side with his compatriot Roeiseland who also went through a penalty round. Dorothea Wierer keeps her nerves, pays the single fee for a mistake and consolidates her fourth position. Makarainen flies towards his first victory after 13 months while Tiril Eckhoff imposes himself in the all-Norwegian challenge for the second step of the podium which he takes at 30.2 from the Finnish. Third Roeiseland, fourth Wierer at 1.08.8 ahead of Herrmann, Hoeberg and Kryuko. Lena Haecki, despite eight errors, is eighth at 1.49.7 while the constancy rewards Lisa Vittozzi who after two errors at the first shooting range manages to climb back to the ninth final place at 1.50.7 with 5 penalty laps.
