Mars Olsbu Roeiseland dominates the Oberhof Sprint, Wierer fourth

Fog, gusts of wind and rain: Oberhof confirms itself to be a location with insidious weather conditions in the Biathlon World Cup calendar.

Mars Olsbu Roeiseland is not intimidated and is the only one of the big names to score 10/10; if you add to this the rhythms on narrow skis that the Norwegian, fourth today in time only ten seconds from Herrmann, has found in this season the dominator of the first World Cup race of 2020 comes out. Until the entrance to the second shooting range, it's a tenth of a second challenge with Denise Herrmann who in the standing session first misses a target and then takes a long pause for reflection before the last shot. The German must settle for second place 33.1 from the winner and precedes by 14 seconds an excellent Julia Simon delayed by an error in the first shooting session. The 23-year-old Frenchwoman is very fast on the last lap, at the level of the best, and she manages to overtake Dorothea Wierer who, after having covered a penalty lap, had left the second shooting range with a ten second advantage over the transalpine. The World Cup leader closes in fourth position at 1.01.8 gaining precious points on the most direct opponents for the crystal ball. Tiril Eckhoff made one mistake per polygon and in the last lap he failed to recover the 24 seconds that separated her from Wierer with the blue who managed to keep 5 on the finish forcing Eckhoff to fifth position. A good Paulina Fialkova, fast on skis and with a single error at the shooting range, closes in sixth position 1.09.1, preceding the Canadian Lunder by 6 seconds, another zero of the day. The Polish Hojnisz (0 + 1) is eighth and precedes the compatriot Kamila Zuk (2 + 0) and the Austrian Innerhofer (0 + 2). Lisa Vittozzi is on the lead of the leaders until the standing session where she makes two mistakes and pays duty also in the third lap closing in twentieth position at 2.02.6.
