Biathlon: solo by Denise Herrmann in the Women's pursuit, 10th Lisa Vittozzi

The German made the difference in the final series, where he found the "zero". Silver for Tiril Eckhoff who reached and passed over Laura Dahlmeier on the last lap.

Kuzmina set the race on a good pace, gaining a few seconds on the first pursuers. Behind him in second position was Denise Herrmann, who acted as a locomotive to a group of five athletes. The race was very conditioned by the strong wind, which made the polygon very selective. Kuzmina missed two targets in the opening series and slipped into 7th place. A quartet of Dahlmeier, Brorsson, Tandrevold and Herrmann passed the race. Wierer made a mistake and remained in 9th place, while Vittozzi had to cover the penalty ring three times. In the second round Herrmann and Brorsson went to the attack, detaching their adventure companions by about ten seconds. At the polygon they found the "zero" and kept the advantage on Laura Dahlmeier and Tiril Eckhoff intact. All the others, entered thirty seconds later in the pitch, had to face a real storm and errors were flawed. Wierer has even committed four, Vittozzi three. Mona Brorsson, after letting Herrmann escape in the third round, arrived at the polygon with 10 "to be recovered, but unlike the German (two errors) he accurately covered all the targets. The Swedish then went on the run, crossing the intermediate with over half a minute margin on Dahlmeier. The solo of Brorsson lasted until the fourth series, where however he made four mistakes. Behind him Herrmann took advantage, which surprisingly managed to hit all the targets, flying alone towards the gold medal. They also avoided penalty rounds also Dahlmeier and Eckhoff, exits from the detached pitch of 22 "and 27" respectively. In the final round the Norwegian kept a good rhythm, which allowed her to mend the gap with the German.
